The Yakovlev Yak-6 was a Soviet low-wing transport and bomber plane. The drive was provided by two M-11F engines, 145 HP each . The flight of the prototype took place in 1942, and serial production began shortly thereafter, ending with the production of about 1,000 aircraft of this type. The armament of the plane - in the bomb version - was a single 7.62 mm SzKAS machine gun and a load of up to 500 kg of bombs. The Yak-6 was built at a very fast pace, as the first work on it was initiated in May 1942, and the prototype was ready in August of the same year! Shortly thereafter, the machine entered mass production. In its course, two versions of this machine were created. The Yak-6 model was the basic and produced in the largest number. It was a light transport machine intended for supplying partisans, transporting the wounded or small loads, capable of operating from field airfields. The second version was the Yak-6 NBB, a light bomber armed with a machine gun and capable of carrying around 500 kg of bombs. Both versions were characterized by a solid structure, ease of use and piloting, but they had poor performance and maneuverability, which resulted from the use of very weak engines. The only users of them were the armed forces of the USSR.
