The LVTH-6 was an American floating fire support vehicle from the Cold War period. During the production, which lasted in the 1950s, about 210 cars of this type were created. The vehicle was powered by an engine Continental LV-1790 with 704 hp. It was armed with a 105 mm M49 howitzer and two 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns. The LVTH-6 was developed in the 1950s as a development version of the LVTP-5 APC. Like its ancestor, it was dedicated primarily to the troops of the American Marine Corps (USMC in short). Its main tasks were to support its own subunits with direct and indirect fire and to destroy the enemy's permanent points of resistance. Of course, while working on this car, the experience gained from the battles fought in the Pacific during World War II was by handfuls. Unfortunately, basing the LVTH-6 design on the LVTP-5 meant that it took over many of its shortcomings. The main ones include: low speed in the water, which made the car a great target, very poor resistance to a mine explosion - even anti-personnel - and, finally, the need for long and careful maintenance. Finally, at the beginning of the 1970s, vehicles of this type were withdrawn from the line service in the USMC.
