Mikasa was a Japanese battleship, the so-called The "predrednotem", the keel of which was laid in 1899, was launched in November 1900, and entered service in the Imperial Japanese Navy in March 1902. The length of the ship was 131.7 m, width 23.2 m, and the full displacement - 15,200 tons. The maximum speed of battleship Mikasa was around 18 knots. The main armament at the time of the launch was 4 305 mm guns in two turrets of two guns, and the additional armament was primarily 14 152 mm guns in casemates. The Mikasa was commissioned by the Japanese Navy from the Vickers shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, based on the design of the improved-type Majestic battleships already in service with the Royal Navy. At the time of launching, it was one of the most powerful battleships in the world at that time, due to the strong - for those times - main and medium armament and the use of very good Krupp steel for armor. It is no surprise that Mikasa very quickly became the flagship of the entire Japanese Navy. The battleship took a major part in the Japanese-Russian War (1904-1905) and in the Battle of Tsushima, where it acted as the flagship of Adm. Heichahiro Togo. After 1905, it even became a symbol of the Japanese triumph in this battle! After many adventures, due to the intensive development of marine technology, in 1923 Mikasa was decommissioned, and in 1926 it was assigned to a museum ship. After restoration in 1961, Mikasa continues to perform this role. M. It can be visited in the port of Yokosuka.
