Kashalot (another designation: Project 1910) is the designation for the class of Soviet nuclear submarines of the Cold War period. The first unit of this class was introduced to the line in 1986. A single ship of this type is 69 meters long and 7 meters wide. The maximum underwater speed is around 30 knots. The ship's crew consists of about 36-40 people. The Kashalot class consists of two units in total, designated AS-13 and AS-15. It was planned to create a third unit of this class (SA-12), but the project was canceled in 1998. Units of this type are classified as research ships and intended to carry out special-purpose missions. Each of them is made of titanium and has a single-hull structure, which was very rare in the construction of Soviet nuclear-powered submarines. Units of this type are still in service with the Russian Navy.
