The Arado Ar 76 was a German light fighter and training aircraft from the interwar period and World War II in the high wing configuration. The drive was provided by a single engine Argus As 10C with a power of 240 hp. The prototype flight took place in September 1934, and serial production started in 1936. In total, about 190 examples of this aircraft were built. The on-board armament - in the hunting version - consisted of two 7.92 mm MG 17 machine guns. The machine could also carry bombs weighing up to 30 kilograms. In the early 1930s, a competition was launched in Germany for a new light fighter to defend strategically important areas as well as act as a training aircraft. The Arado plants in the design of the Ar 76 focused on the lowest possible cost of series production, low operating costs of the machine and the best possible rate of climb. The maximum speed and range of the machine were clearly treated as secondary. The finished Ar 76s did not gain recognition as fighters and lost the government contract with the Focke Wulf Fw-56. However, they were considered successful training planes and from 1936 entered flight schools as advanced training machines.
