BLOHM & VOSS AE 607 "NIGHTFIGHTER"

Blohm und Voss Ae 607 was a project of a German jet fighter from the end of World War II. Probably the length of the machine was to be about 7.4 meters with a wingspan of about 7.8 meters. The propulsion was likely to be provided by a single Heinkel-Hirth HeS-011 turbojet engine with a thrust of 12.75 kN. The on-board armament would probably consist of three 30 mm cannons. The Blohm und Voss Ae 607 project was created in early 1945 and was characterized by a highly avant-garde aerodynamic system involving the use of a flying wing system, which was to reduce aerodynamic drag, but also greatly improve the maneuverability of the aircraft. Moreover, the wings of the machine were supposed to bend downwards. It was also assumed that the engine would be placed in the fuselage, which would also reduce the air resistance of the plane. It is possible that the Blohm und Voss Ae 607 would also carry air-to-air missiles. Ultimately, however, the plane never came off the drawing board.
