The Yakovlev Yak-20 was a Soviet prototype training and sports aircraft from the early Cold War period in the low wing configuration. The prototype flight took place in 1949. It is assumed that only 2 examples of this aircraft were built. The length of the first one was 7.06 meters, with a wingspan of 9.56 meters. The drive was provided by a single Ivchenko AI-10 engine with a power of only 80 HP. The maximum speed of the aircraft did not exceed 160 km / h. The Yakovlev Yak-20 was developed as a new training and sports machine intended primarily for Soviet civil aviation clubs. In the aircraft, particular emphasis was placed on the lowest possible production and operating costs, while maintaining very good piloting properties and aerobatic abilities. Interestingly, although the machine took many technical solutions from the Jak-18 planes produced since 1946, it had a different and simpler fuselage structure, it used a much weaker, but also lighter power unit, and the equipment of the pilot's and instructor's cabin was also limited to the necessary minimum. Finally, due to the serial production of the Jaka-18 and the shortcomings of the Jaka-20 prototypes, the design of the aircraft was completely canceled.
