SIEBEL SI-202 "HUMMEL"

The Siebel Si 202 was a German training and low-wing training aircraft with a fixed undercarriage from the interwar period and World War II. The drive - in the Si 202 A version - was provided by a single motor Salmson 9Ad with a power of 45 HP. The flight of the prototype took place in May 1938, and shortly after the serial production of the aircraft began, which led to the creation of about 60-70 copies of it. The plane did not have on-board weapons. The Si 202 was built at the Siebel Flugzeugwerke plant following a recommendation by the German Air Ministry in 1937, which suggested that the company focus on light liaison, training and sport aircraft. The Siebel Si 202, after passing a series of tests and trials, turned out to be quite a successful machine, with good performance, with a two-person cabin in which the crew sat next to each other, as well as a plane with a low curb weight. In the course of serial production, three versions of the aircraft were created, powered by different engines: Si.202A (Salmson 9Ad engine), Si.202B (Zundapp 9-092 engine) and Si.202C (Hirth HM 515 engine). During World War II, the only foreign user of Si. 202 were Hungary.
