BLACKBURN SKUA MK.II SILVER WING

The Blackburn Skua is a British two-person, on-board light dive bomber and WWII reconnaissance aircraft powered by the Bristol Perseus XII engine with 902hp. The flight of the first prototype took place on February 9, 1937, and serial production started in August 1938 (designation Mk.II). Blackburn Skua planes served in four FAA (Fleet Air Arm) squadrons: 800, 802, 803 and 806. The planes fought during the Norwegian campaign and the evacuation of Dunkirk (1940), but until the end of 1941. were withdrawn from the line and became training planes. They were replaced by Fairey Fulmar planes. During the war, 192 Blackburn Skuas were made. At the moment, the only surviving specimen is the Skua L2940 on display at the FAA Museum in Yeovilton.
