LIPPISH P 20 COMET-TL JÄGER

The Lippisch P.20 was a project of a German jet-propelled fighter from the Second World War. The drive was supposed to be provided by a single engine Junkers Jumo 004. The deck armament was to consist of four cannons: two 30 mm Mk.108 and two 30 mm Mk.103 cannons. The plane has never been tested, much less entered mass production. The design of the P.20 aircraft was developed in 1943 by Alexander Lippisch as a far-reaching development of the Messerschmitt Me-163 design. The design of the new fighter with the Me-163 kept the general concept of the aircraft and the relatively small size of the entire structure, but introduced some very important changes. First of all, the Lippisch P.20 was to be powered by a jet engine, not a rocket engine, and it was also to have more powerful on-board weapons. It was also assumed that the new machine would have much greater maneuverability and would be easier to pilot than the Me-163. Ultimately, however, the project was discontinued and the Lippisch P.20 was never flown.
