NAKAJIMA C3N1

The Nakajima C3N was a Japanese fixed-undercarriage monoplane reconnaissance plane from the interwar period. The drive was provided by a single Nakajima engine Hikari 2 with power up to 840 hp. The prototype flight took place in 1936. The machine never entered mass production. The deck armament consisted of two 7.7 mm machine guns. Nakajima C3N was created in connection with the competition in 1935 announced by the command of the Japanese Navy for a new reconnaissance aircraft based on aircraft carriers. The Nakajima production plant, responding to this demand, created an aircraft (just C3N), which was largely based on the Nakajima B5N torpedo plane. The C3N differed from its predecessor by the use of a fixed chassis and minor changes to the aerodynamics of the machine. The C3N used the same engine as the early versions of the B5N. Interestingly, the Nakajima C3N successfully passed the tests carried out by the Navy, which, however, only obtained two copies of this aircraft! Nakajima C3N planes were used in combat in the early years of the Japanese-Chinese War of 1937-1945.
