The Scott Viking 1 was a British single-seater sports and performance glider from the end of the interwar period and World War II. The flight of the prototype took place in 1938, in the same year a small production started, which led to the creation of only 4 aircraft of this type. The Viking 1 was developed by Roy Scott at Scott Light Aircraft Limited as a high performance sailplane with the best possible performance. Viking 1 was characterized by a wooden structure, but had a highly refined aerodynamic profile, a very large wingspan and a closed pilot's cockpit. The wings were placed in the central part of the fuselage. Of the four gliders produced, three remained in Great Britain and one was sold to Argentina. The copies that remained in England were used during World War II to train RAF pilots. Only one glider of this type survived the war. In 1939, on the basis of Viking 1, a two-seater version of the glider was developed, designated as Viking 2.
