The Dornier Do 22 was a German high-wing seaplane with a fixed, float undercarriage from the interwar period and World War II. The prototype flight took place in 1938. Serial production was carried out in the years 1938-1939. About 30 aircraft of this type were built in its course. The drive was provided by a single Hispano-Suiza 12Ybrs engine with 860 HP. The length of the aircraft was 13.1 meters with a wingspan of 16.2 meters. The deck armament consisted of 2-3 7.62 or 7.92 mm machine guns. The machine could also carry a load of bombs weighing up to 200 kg or a torpedo weighing 800 kg. The Do 22 aircraft was developed at the Dornier Flugzeugwerke aviation plant on the basis of a prototype machine designated as Do C3 by the same manufacturer. The Dornier Do 22 was designed primarily with European export markets in mind, and therefore had a simplified and rather conservative design, but also showed at least good performance and flight properties. The plane was purchased in small quantities by Greece, Finland, Yugoslavia and Latvia. Machines of this type took part in the course of World War II to a limited extent. It is worth adding that the manufacturer also created a version with a wheeled chassis (Do 22L), but it did not go into production. Finland, on the other hand, equipped some of its Do 22 with skis and used them on such a chassis until 1944.
