The Lohner L was an Austro-Hungarian WW1 flying boat built in a biplane configuration. The flight of the prototype took place in 1915, and shortly after that, mass production started, which led to the creation of over 100 machines of this type. The drive was provided by a single Austro-Daimler VI engine with 160 HP. The machine was 10.26 meters long with a wingspan of 16.2 meters. The maximum speed was up to 105 km / h. The deck armament consisted of a single machine gun. The machine could also carry a load of bombs weighing up to 200 kilograms. The Lohner L was designed and put into production as a new, reconnaissance flying boat primarily for the Austro-Hungarian Navy. In order to shorten the work and reduce costs, the manufacturers decided to rely on the Lohner E model, adding a completely new power unit, which improved the aircraft's performance. In the course of production, four main development versions of the aircraft were created: Lohner L (basic version), Lohner R (photographic reconnaissance version), Lohner S (training version) and Lohner L.1 (version powered by an Isotta-Fraschini V.4a engine)
