HENSCHEL HS P 87

Henschel Hs P.87 was a design for a German WWII bomber. The drive was supposed to be provided by a single Daimler-Benz DB610 engine with a power of 2,200 hp. The deck armament was to consist of two or four 30mm Mk.108 cannons. The plane has never been tested, much less entered mass production. Design works on the Henschel Hs P.87 aircraft were carried out under the program called Schnell Bomber (German: fast bomber). This project was to lead to the creation of a very fast bomber (with a maximum speed of 750-800 km / h), the overall performance and characteristics of which would allow it to do without a fighter escort. The Henschel plant in Hs P.87 used a duck arrangement that was rare at that time and used a push propeller instead of a pull propeller. They also developed the design so that if a single DB610 engine could not be used, it would be possible to use two DB605 engines. However, due to the change of priorities of the Luftwaffe in 1944 and the shift of aviation production to mass production of fighters, the Henschel Hs P.87 project was never realized.
