The Fiat CR.20 was created as a far-reaching development of the previous fighter of the same company - the CR. 1. The new machine was more aerodynamically refined, received a more powerful engine, and its hull structure was strengthened. The Fiat CR.20 was characterized by good - for that time - performance as well as good maneuverability and maneuverability. Several versions of this aircraft were created in the course of serial production. The first was designated as Fiat CR.20 B - it was a two-seater, school version. In 1928, a version with a float undercarriage was introduced, a seaplane with the designation Fiat CR.20 Idro. In 1929, production of the Fiat CR.20 bis version with a more powerful engine and capable of flying at higher altitudes began. The plane found its way to Italian military aviation units (owned by Regio Aeronautica) from 1926. He took part in the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935-1936. It was also sold to several countries, including Austria, Spain, Paraguay and Poland.
