The Tachikawa KS-1 was a civil Japanese light communication and photo reconnaissance aircraft from the interwar period and World War II in a biplane system. The machine was first tested in 1939. The wingspan was about 10 meters. The drive was provided by a single Hitachi Jimpu engine with 160 HP. The top speed slightly exceeded 180 km / h. The Tachikawa KS-1 was developed at the request of the Japanese Ministry of Railways as an observation and liaison machine, which was to improve the supervision of railway lines under construction and the management of existing ones. It was based on the Tachikawa KKS plane, but it differed from it by the power unit used, an enlarged passenger cabin, which was to a greater extent glazed, and the installation of photographic equipment. It is assumed that two aircraft of this type were ordered, of which one aircraft was definitely delivered.
