Rogozarski SM was a Yugoslav light flying boat from the interwar period and World War II. The machine was built in a biplane configuration, mainly of wood and canvas. The flight of the prototype took place in 1924, and production started a year later - in 1925. About 40 machines of this type were built in its course. The length of the plane was approx. 9.8 m with a wingspan of approx. 14.5 m. The drive was usually provided by a single Mercedes D.II engine with 100 HP. The top speed was 120 km / h. The plane did not have permanent on-board weapons. The Rogozarski SM aircraft was developed at the Ikarus aviation plant and the needs of the Yugoslav Navy as a light training machine. When designing this aircraft, emphasis was placed on the lowest possible production and operating costs, as well as the best possible pilot properties. Finally, a quite successful machine was created, fully suitable for training pilots in the Adriatic Sea. It is worth adding that many machines of this type survived in line until the outbreak of World War II. The Rogozarski SM plane was also an important element in the development of the Ikarus company, which acquired completely new competences thanks to it.
