72350 ADAM A-500

The Adam A-500 is a modern American low-wing passenger plane with a retractable landing gear. The plane was flown in 2002. Production started shortly after, as a result of which only 5 examples of this aircraft were made (except for 2 prototypes). The drive is provided by two Teledyne Continental TSIO-550E engines with 350 HP each. The Adam A-500 was developed on the basis of the experimental M-309 CarbonAero aircraft constructed by Burt Rutan. The A-500 aircraft is characterized by a very unusual aerodynamic system using two tail beams and powered by two engines driving one push and pull propeller. The plane was also largely made of composite materials. Due to the financial problems of the Adam Aircraft Industries aviation company, the production of the aircraft was terminated in 2008. The plane did not achieve much commercial success due to the very small market for this type of machine.
