JUNKERS JU-160 "LUFTWAFFE SERVICE"

The Junkers Ju 160 was a German high-speed low-wing passenger plane with a retractable landing gear from the interwar period and World War II. The drive was provided by a single engine BMW 132 A-2 with a power of 660 hp. The flight of the prototype took place in January 1934, and shortly after the serial production of the aircraft began, which led to the creation of about 50 of its copies. The plane did not have on-board weapons. The Ju 160 was developed at the Junkers aviation plant as a competitor on the civilian market for machines such as the Heinkel He 70 and Lockheed Model 9 Orion. It was a relatively small but very fast machine, capable of taking up to 6 passengers on board. The manufacturer based the Ju 160 design on the Ju 60 airplane. Compared to the original, the airframe was significantly improved with aerodynamics and a new engine with more power of domestic production was used. The shape of the airfoil and its aerodynamics were also interfered with. As a result, the machine's performance was improved - over the Ju 60 - which resulted in an order from Lufthansa, which was the main user of the Ju 160 before 1939. During World War II, almost all Ju 160s were used by the Luftwaffe.
