The Air Express Gilmore was an American communication and mail plane in the classic high-wing fixed landing gear configuration from the interwar period. The length of the machine was 8.38 meters, with a maximum wingspan of 12.95 meters. The maximum speed was up to 270 km / h. The Air Express Gilmore was constructed by the Lockheed aviation company as a kind of development of the successful Vega aircraft, commissioned by Western Air Express. The main changes concerned the relocation of the cockpit towards the tail part of the plane or quite a far-reaching change of the wing structure. Interestingly, however, the hull of the machine has not undergone any radical changes. In total, only 8 Air Express Gilmore aircraft were made, which were used, among others, by companies such as: PAN American, American Airways or Western Air Express
