The Grumman XF10F Jaguar was a prototype US-made on-board fighter with an all-metal high-wing structure. The drive was provided by a single Westinghouse J40 engine. The prototype flight took place in 1952 - the machine never entered mass production. The deck armament was to consist of 4 20 mm cannons. The Grumman XF10F Jaguar was commissioned by the US Navy, which in the early 1950s sought to introduce a variable wing geometry fighter with the shortest possible take-off and landing distance and the best possible flight performance. The manufacturer has developed a relatively short machine with a large cross-section, slightly resembling its previous design - the F9F Panther machine. However, the machine turned out to be extremely underdeveloped and generating a lot of problems. First of all, it used the unreliable Westinghouse J40 engine, which in addition did not achieve the assumed power, which had a negative impact on the aircraft's performance. The Jaguar XF10F also showed serious problems in piloting and had a distinct tendency to spin into a spin. Paradoxically, one mechanism that turned out to be relatively reliable was the innovative system of changing the wing geometry. However, due to the disastrous results achieved by Jaguar's XF10F, the entire program was canceled in 1953. Only one prototype of this aircraft was built.
