The Hansa-Brandenburg KDW was a German WW1 biplane fighter with a fixed float landing gear. A prototype flight took place in 1916, and the machine entered production in the same year. During its course, about 55-60 aircraft of this type were created. The drive was provided - initially - by a single engine Benz Bz.III o power of 150 hp. The length of the aircraft was 8 meters with a wingspan of 9.25 meters. The deck armament usually consisted of 1-2 7.92 mm LMG 08/15 machine guns. The Hansa-Brandenburg KDW aircraft was developed by the later famous aircraft constructor Ernest Heinkel, for the use primarily of Austro-Hungarian aviation, and its production was the responsibility of the factories in this country Phönix . The machine was developed on the basis of the previous model from Hansa-Brandenburg - DI Airplane, however, turned out to be unsuccessful - it was very difficult to pilot and had considerable problems with horizontal stability in flight. Attempts were made to remedy this by replacing the power unit with a more powerful one (Maybach Mb.III engine), but it did not bring the expected results.
