The Embraer EMB 121 Xingu was a Brazilian light passenger, business and multi-purpose airliner. The prototype flight took place in 1976. Serial production was carried out in the years 1977-1987 - about 110 copies of this aircraft were produced during it. The machine - in the Xingu I version - was two Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-28 turboprop engines. The length of the aircraft was 12.25 meters with a wingspan of 14.05 meters. EMB 121 Xingu was developed as a bottom-up initiative of Embraer to expand its market offer. In order to shorten the research and development work, the new machine was based on the EMB 110 Bandeirante in many essential elements. It drew from it, for example, wings or engines, but it had a completely new fuselage. In the course of production, two main development versions were created: Xingu I and Xingu II, which differed from each other only in the drive units used. It is worth adding that the EMB 121 was also used by the Brazilian Air Force under the designation VU-9. EMB 121 aircraft were used only in Brazil and France.
