The Heinkel P.1073 was a project of a German WWII jet fighter. The propulsion was supposed to be provided by two BMW 003 or Heinkel HeS 011 engines. The on-board armament was to consist of two Mk.108 30 mm cannons. The machine has never been tested, much less entered mass production. Design P.1073 was developed at the Heinkel aviation plant in 1944. It was characterized by a very unusual, asymmetrical arrangement of the engines: one was in the nacelle, on the fuselage in its middle part, and the other - in a special nacelle under the fuselage, in its nose. The designed machine also had wings with a large slant and a V-shaped tail (butterfly tail or Rudlicki tail). The new aircraft was designed both in the fighter version (designation: P.1073 01 4) and in the reconnaissance version (P.1073 01 8). Ultimately, the project was never completed, but Heinkel relied heavily on P.1073 for the development of the He 162 Salamander.
