The Nakajima Ko-4 is a Japanese fighter from the interwar period in a biplane layout with a fixed undercarriage in the classic layout. The production of the machine lasted in the years 1923-1932, ending with the production of about 600 machines of this type. The drive was provided by a single Mitsubishi engine (a license version of the Hispano-Suiza engine) with a power of up to 320 HP. The length of the aircraft was 6.44 meters with a wingspan of 9.7 meters. The maximum speed was up to 230 km / h. The deck armament consisted of two 7.7 mm machine guns. The Nakajima Ko-4 is a license version of the very successful French Nieuport 29 C-1 fighter, which at the beginning of the 1920s was considered one of the best fighters in the world! In Japanese aviation, the new machine replaced Hei-1 and Ko-3 planes. Like the French original, it was characterized by - for those times - great maneuverability, high top speed and good flight characteristics. It is worth noting that the Nakajima Ko-4 was the first, produced on a large scale, Japanese military aviation fighter. The machine took part, inter alia, in the entry of Japanese troops into Manchuria in 1931.
