72002 SHORT 830

Short 827/830 is a British reconnaissance seaplane from the First World War. The flight of the prototype took place in 1914, and shortly after that, the serial production started, which led to the creation of about 130 aircraft of this type. The drive was provided by a single engine: Sunbeam Nubian (150 HP) in the 827 version and Salmson (135 HP) in the 830 version. The on-board armament consisted of a single 7.7 mm Lewis machine gun. The Short 827/830 was a classic for its time, a biplane with two floats as main landing gear and small floats added to the wings. The flight crew consisted of two people sitting in an open tandem cabin. The plane turned out to be successful: it had a relatively long patrolling time and a durable structure. Its production, apart from the Short Brothers plants, was also the responsibility of other aviation companies, for example: Parnall, Fairey and Sunbeam. The Short 827/830 aircraft was used primarily by Great Britain, but was also used by the Belgian Air Force.
