The Latham 43 is a French four-seater reconnaissance bomber flying boat in a mixed structure, in a biplane configuration. The drive was provided by two Lorraine-Dietrch 14 in-line engines with 400 HP each. The flight of the prototype took place in 1924, and mass production began in the same year. The firing armament consisted of 2 to 4 7.69 mm machine guns, and the load capacity was up to 400 kg. bombs. The Latham 43 machine was created as a result of a grassroots initiative by French plants with this name, which intended to attract the interest of the French armed forces with its construction. The effort paid off and in 1924 the Latham 43 entered the aviation equipment of the French Navy. However, it was quickly found that the machine is not very modern, it is not very susceptible to modernization, as a result of which the machines were transferred to school and training units. In 1926, eight Latham 43 planes also entered the service of the Polish Navy in which they served as part of the Naval Aviation Squadron based in Puck. They were used intensively in this squadron for training and reconnaissance purposes. Due to the considerable wear and tear of the structure, all machines of this type were withdrawn from service by 1934.
