The Fiat BR1 was an Italian light bomber with a mixed biplane structure and a fixed undercarriage from the interwar period. The drive was provided by the FIAT A.14 engine with a capacity of 700 HP. The flight of the prototype took place in 1924, in the same year mass production began, ending with the production of about 150 machines. The aircraft was armed with one 7.7 mm machine gun and a load of up to 600 kg of bombs. The Fiat BR1 was created as a far-reaching development of the SIA-9 reconnaissance aircraft and the FIAT BR machine. The changes consisted primarily in the use of other airfoil mounts, a modernized undercarriage and a new engine cooling system. The new machine had good flight and pilot properties and - for those times - a large load capacity of bombs. Airplanes began to enter the line in the Italian Air Force at the turn of 1924/1925. These planes were later replaced by FIAT BR2 machines, powered by the new FIAT A.25 engine. Sweden turned out to be the only foreign recipient of BR1 aircraft.
