AD.1 Navyplane is a British prototype seaplane from World War I in a biplane system. A prototype flight took place in 1916, but the machine never entered mass production. The drive was provided by a single engine - initially Smith Static, and later Bentley BR.1 with 150 HP. The length of the aircraft was 8.46 meters with a wingspan of 10.97 meters. The maximum speed was up to 104 km / h. The deck armament consisted of a single 7.7mm Lewis machine gun. The AD.1 Navyplane was commissioned by the Royal Navy, which in early 1916 sought to acquire a new reconnaissance seaplane. The machine was developed by the British Admiralty in cooperation with the Supermarine aviation company. The plane decided to use a push propeller instead of a pulling one, as well as a relatively light structure of the rear part of the fuselage. The machine, however, turned out to be highly unsuccessful. Its performance was very poor, which was mainly due to the fact that the engine was too weak. The project was finally canceled in 1917.
