The Seversky 2PA was an American fighter plane with a classic retractable landing gear, which was flown in 1935. The total length of the machine was approx. 8.25 m with a wingspan of approx. 11 m. The drive was provided by a single Wright R-1820 engine with a capacity of 1000 HP. The maximum speed did not exceed 520 km / h, and the weight of the empty plane was approx. 2080 kg. The Seversky 2PA was a far-reaching, yet evolutionary development of the Seversky SEV-3 aircraft. Both aircraft differed in the power unit used, length and wingspan, as well as performance, but they shared many design solutions with each other. The Seversky 2PA was designed as a relatively heavy fighter, with as large a flight range as possible and relatively strong on-board armament. It was primarily intended for export sale, although efforts were made to attract the interest of the domestic air force as well. The plane, however, turned out to be a moderately successful design, mainly due to the low rate of climb and average maneuverability. However, the machine was sold to Japan (under the designation Seversky A8V) and Sweden (designation: Seversky B-6). The aircraft was also operated by the US Air Force as a training and training machine under the designation AT-12 Guardsman.
