Albatros Dr. II was a prototype fighter plane of German production from the First World War, with a fixed landing gear, in a triple-plane configuration. The drive was provided by a single Benz B.IIIbo engine with a power of 195 HP. The first flight of this machine took place in the spring of 1918 - the machine never entered mass production. The on-board armament would probably consist of two 7.92 mm machine guns, but no armament was installed on the prototype. The Albatros Dr. II was developed at the Albatros Flugzeugwerke plant at the request of the German Air Force to test the triplane capability of the aircraft using the new Benz B.IIIbo engine. From the beginning, the machine was planned as a fighter plane with the highest possible climb speed, high maneuverability and, in general, the best possible performance in wheel combat. In order to shorten the development time, the manufacturer used many components and elements from the Albatros DX aircraft in the Dr. II model. However, the wing configuration was radically changed (DX was a biplane) and a new power unit was used, as well as many changes to the fuselage structure. Test flights of the Albatros Dr. II aircraft probably lasted from May to July 1918, but the aircraft never entered mass production.
