7237 DFS LIEGE-KRANICH

The DFS Kranich is a German two-seater sports and training glider with a spine and wooden structure. The prototype flight took place in 1935. Subsequent serial production led to the creation of approx. 1700 aircraft of this type. DFS Kranich was developed by Eng. Hans Jacobs at the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt fur Segelflug (DSF for short) as primarily a training and training glider. It was an extension of the DFS Rhonsperber design. It turned out to be an extremely successful glider, with a durable structure and very good flight and pilot properties. It quickly became the most popular glider in its class in Germany before the outbreak of World War II. In the course of production, two main versions of this glider were created: Kranich I and Kranich II. After 1945, a modernized version of this aircraft, called IS-C Żuraw, was created in Poland.
