The Monocoupe 90 was an American high-wing training and racing aircraft from the interwar period and World War II. The drive was provided - in the 90A version - by a single engine Lambert R-266 with a power of 90 HP. The flight of the prototype took place in January 1927, and shortly after that, serial production started, which resulted in the creation of about 330 aircraft of this type. The Monocoupe 90 was designed by Donald Luscombe for the Monocoupe Aircraft company. From the very beginning, the machine was designed to be as cheap to produce as possible, but retaining the best performance, adequate for this class of machines. During the production of Monocoupe 90, many versions were created, which differed mainly in the power unit. These versions include, for example: 90AF (powered by Franklin engine), 90AL (powered by Avro Lycoming engine) or 90J with Warner Scarab Junior engine. Most of the Monocoupe 90 planes went to private customers. The military user, on the other hand, was France, which made little use of the 90AF version to train pilots in the years 1943-1944 in the Middle East, primarily in the area controlled by Free French forces in Syria.
