LF7249 CONSOLIDATED A-11 ATTACK VERSION

The Consolidated A-11 was an American low-wing attack aircraft with a classic retractable landing gear. The flight of the prototype took place in 1933, and a total of 5-6 examples of this machine were built. The plane was 8.91 meters long with a wingspan of 13.38 meters. The drive was provided by a single Curtiss V-1570-59 engine with 675 hp. The maximum speed was up to 365 km / h. The deck armament consisted of five 7.62 mm machine guns. The machine could also carry bomb loads of up to 220 kilograms. The Consolidated A-11 was developed as a development of the P-30 fighter, produced by the same aviation company. The main changes related to the slightly different length of the fuselage of both aircraft, the use of different versions of the Curtiss V-1570 engine, different small arms and the ability of the A-11 to carry more suspended cargo. Generally, however, Consolidated: A-11 and P-30 planes were very similar to each other. It is worth noting that the aircraft in question, when it entered service, had very good performance for an attack aircraft and was generally quite a successful design. However, the command of the US Air Force decided to cease production, in favor of machines with radial engines, air-cooled.
