The Mitsubishi Type 92 (another designation: 2MR8) was a Japanese short-range reconnaissance monoplane, umbrella wing, fixed undercarriage from the interwar period and World War II. The drive was provided by a single radial motor Mitsubishi with a power of 450 hp. The prototype flight took place in 1931. The machine entered service a year later - in 1932. Serial production ended with the production of about 230 copies of this aircraft. The deck armament consisted of four 7.7 mm machine guns. Mitsubishi Type 92 was commissioned by the Imperial Japanese Army command which needed a new reconnaissance aircraft to replace the Kawasaki Type 88 machines in the line. The new machine had reinforced on-board armament, better rate of climb and was more maneuverable. It was also characterized by a relatively solid structure and decent flight endurance for this class of aircraft. Mitsubishi Type 92 machines were used extensively by Japanese forces in Manchuria from 1933 to 1936, as well as at the beginning of the Japanese-Chinese War of 1937-1945.
