The Yokosuka K2Y was a Japanese fixed-landing biplane training and training aircraft in a classic layout from the interwar period and World War II. The flight of the prototype took place in 1929, and the machine entered service a year later - in 1930. About 360 aircraft of this type were built in the course of production. The drive was provided - in the K2Y1 version - by a single engine with a capacity of up to 130 HP. The length of the aircraft was 8.67 meters with a wingspan of 11 meters. The machine did not have a permanent on-board armament. The maximum speed was up to 155 km / h. The Yokosuka K2Y was developed for the needs of the Japanese Navy, which in the late 1920s sought to obtain a training plane to replace the Avro 504 aircraft in the line. Interestingly, however, the new machine was in many aspects to its predecessor and was its overall development. The main difference between the two aircraft was the power unit used, which in the case of the Yokosuka K2Y was characterized by greater power, which in turn had a positive effect on the machine's performance. In the course of production, two main versions of the machine were created: the Yokosuka K2Y1 (with an engine power of up to 130 HP) and the Yokosuka K2Y2 (with an engine power of 160 HP).
