The Dassault MD 315 Flamant was a French low-wing light transport aircraft of the post-war era. The drive was provided by - in the MD 315 version - two motors Renault 12S 02-201 with 580 hp each. The prototype flight took place in July 1947. Serial production started shortly after, with around 330 aircraft of this type built. The Flamant family of aircraft (including the MD 315) was developed by an aviation company Dassault commissioned by the French Air Force (French: Armme de l'Air), which needed light, several-person transport aircraft to operate in colonies, especially in Indochina and North Africa. Finally, a family of machines was created, consisting of three planes: MD 315 (transport version, 10-seater), MD 312 (transport version, 6-seater) and MD 311 (training version). Flamant aircraft were intensively used in the 1950s by the French Air Force as transport, liaison, training and combat machines, and light attack aircraft (version MD 311). They were used in combat during the war in Algeria (1954-1962). They were also exported to, among others, Cambodia, Tunisia and Vietnam.
