AJEET MK.I INDIAN LIGHT FIGHTER

The HAL Ajeet was an Indian light fighter and jet attack aircraft from the Cold War period. The prototype flight took place in 1976. A year later, the machine entered the line and was withdrawn from it in 1991. In total, about 90 examples of this aircraft were built. The drive was provided by a single engine turbojet TJE HAL . The plane's top speed was 1150 km / h. The deck was armed with two 30mm ADEN cannons. Ajeet was created at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited aviation plant as a far-reaching development of the British Folland Gnat aircraft. The changes mainly concerned: electronics, hydraulic and electric systems, wing structure and strengthening the fuselage strength. All this had a positive effect on the performance of the new aircraft. Two versions of the Ajeet were produced in the course of serial production. The first one, marked as Mk.1, was the combat version of the plane. The second version - Mk.2 - was a two-seater model for advanced training.
