72127 X-55 AND X-55M (NATO CODE AS-15 KENT) SOVIET CRUISER MISSILES

The Ch-55 (another designation: AS-15 Kent) is a modern Russian air-to-ground and water-to-ground long-range missile developed during the USSR times. The first prototypes of the missile appeared in the late 1970s, and the missile entered service in 1984 and is still in service with the armed forces of the Russian Federation. The Ch-55 is a missile with a range of up to 3,000 kilometers, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead with a capacity of up to 200 kilotons. The Ch-55 missile was developed at the MBK Raduga design bureau as the Radzice equivalent of the American AGM-86 ALCM and BGM-109 Tomahawk missiles. The missile uses a Doppler-inertial guidance system that allows you to correct the missile flight path. Several versions of this missile were created in the course of serial production. The first was the Ch-55 model with a range of 2,500 km. The Ch-55-OK model with a revised guidance system went into production later. There was also a version of the Ch-55SM, with enlarged fuel tanks, which allowed to increase the range to 3,000 kilometers. The Ch-55 missile is also being modernized with the Ch-65SE missile with a range shortened to 600 kilometers (which is in line with the INF treaty) and a conventional warhead with a capacity of 410 kg. The Ch-55 missile can be carried by Tu-95MS, Tu-160 and Su-34 aircraft. It was used in combat during the 2015 Syrian civil war. At present, the users of Ch-55 are the PRC, Iran and Russia.
