The Lear Fan 2100 was a prototype, twin-engine business-class commercial and passenger aircraft of American production. The propulsion was provided by two Pratt and Whitney Canada PT-6A-35F engines. The prototype flight took place in January 1981. However, the machine did not enter serial production - only 3 prototype units were built. The Lear Fan 2100 was developed as a grassroots initiative by LearAvia, with Bill Lear being its first designer. The new plane was characterized by numerous, unusual solutions for this class of aircraft. First of all, it was made of composites to a large extent, which in the early 1980s was a highly avant-garde solution. Its engines powered the pushing propeller, not the pulling propeller, while the tail was made in the shape of the letter "Y" (the so-called butterfly tail). The machine, however, did not enter serial production due to numerous technical problems and work on the project was completed in 1985.
