PP03 MILES M.2H HAWK MAJOR 'SPANISH CIVIL WAR'

Miles M.2 Hawk Major was a British sports and tourist plane that was flown in 1934, and about 65 machines of this type were built in the course of serial production. The plane, in the M.2F version, was 7.32 meters long with a wingspan of 10.06 meters. The drive was provided by one of the de Havilland Gipsy Major engine versions with a maximum power of 200 HP. The maximum speed was 241 km / h, with the maximum range of 900 kilometers. Miles M.2 Hawk Major was created as a development of the M.2 Hawk model produced by the same aviation company, i.e. Miles Aircraft Limited. The main changes were the introduction of a new power unit, the engine de Havilland Gipsy Major, a metal attachment of it to the fuselage was also used, as well as streamlined underbody covers. Several versions of this machine were created in the course of serial production, among which the following can be indicated: M.2G (version with a 3-seater cabin), M.2K (version with Cirrus Hermes II engine) or M.2R (racing version).
