ROGOZARSKI IK-3 "FIGHTING PROTOTYPES"

The Rogozarski IK-3 was a Yugoslav fighter plane from the Second World War in the low wing structure, with a wooden structure. The drive was provided by a single Hispano-Suiza 12 Ycrs engine with 980 HP. The prototype flight took place in 1938. In the same year, serial production began, which lasted until 1939. As a result, about 15 examples of this machine were created. The deck armament consisted of a single 20mm Oerlikon FF cannon and two 7.92mm Browning machine guns. The Rogozarski IK-3 was developed as the successor of the Ikarus IK-2 fighter plane. Unlike its predecessor, it was an aircraft that followed the main trends in the development of aviation, which emerged in the late 1930s. The machine was developed and put into production with private funds. The Rogozarski IK-3 turned out to be a successful machine, on many levels on a par with the German Me-109 E or the British Hawker Hurricane. It was used operationally in April 1941 during the German invasion of Yugoslavia. Pilots flying it achieved 11 air victories over German machines.
