The PZL Ł-2 was a Polish liaison and accompanying aircraft of a mixed structure, in the high-wing configuration, with a fixed landing gear. The drive was provided by a single engine Wright Whirlwind J5A with 249 hp. The flight of the prototype took place in 1929, and in the years 1930-1931 serial production continued, ending with the production of about 30 aircraft of this type. The armament was one 7.7 mm Lewis machine gun. The PZL Ł-2 aircraft was created in response to the demand announced in 1927 by the Polish Ministry of Military Affairs for a new liaison and accompanying aircraft. PZL works, for which it was one of the first more serious constructions, applied several technical innovations in the machine, e.g. far-reaching mechanization of the main lobe. The PZL Ł-2 aircraft turned out to be a successful one, but with performance comparable to that of the Lublin R.XIII aircraft. The success of the latter was determined by lower production costs and easier operation. As a result, the PZL L-2 aircraft was produced in a relatively small number of copies. However, many of its elements (e.g. the wing structure) were used in the construction of the PZL-16 passenger plane.
