The Caudron G.4 (another designation: Caudron G.IV) was a French light bomber and twin engine reconnaissance aircraft from the First World War. The prototype's flight took place in 1915, and the machine entered service shortly after. It is estimated that approximately 1,430 aircraft of this type were built in total. The Caudron G.4 was 7.27 meters long with a wingspan of 17.2 meters. The drive was provided by two Le Rhone C engines with 80 HP each. The maximum speed was up to 124 km / h. The on-board armament consisted of a single machine gun, and the machine could carry a load of bombs weighing up to 113 kilograms. The Caudron G.4 was developed as a far-reaching development of the Caudron G.3 aircraft. Compared to its predecessor, it differed primarily in the use of two engines instead of one. It was also enlarged and its structure was strengthened. However, the general aerodynamic layout was retained, with a relatively short fuselage and a rear tail mounted on two beams. The machine turned out to be not only the first plane Aeronautique Militaire powered by two engines, but also a successful and useful combat machine. Airplanes Caudron G.4 has been exported to several countries, including Great Britain, Italy and Romania.
