The Martin 202, or actually Martin 2-0-2, was an American passenger plane that was flown in 1946, and its serial production lasted from 1947 to 1948. The machine was 21.74 meters long with a wingspan of 28.4 meters. The drive was provided by 2 Pratt and Whitney R-2800 CA-18 Double Wasp engines with a maximum power of 2400 HP each. The top speed was 501 km / h. The machine was able to carry up to 40 passengers or 4,200 kg of cargo. In total, 47 examples of this aircraft were built. The Martin 2-0-2 was developed just after the end of World War II, in order to compete with the Douglas DC-3 aircraft on the civilian market. The Martin 2-0-2 was very similar in size to its main rival, but was powered by engines with more maximum power and was able to take more passengers on board. Initially, the plane aroused considerable interest among American airlines, but due to delayed deliveries, many of them canceled their orders for the Convair 240 plane. Moreover, in 1948 there was a plane crash involving a single Martin 2 aircraft -0-2, which revealed a design flaw in the wing, and more precisely - the materials used in it. Martin dealt with the problem very quickly, but it certainly did not give the plane a good press. Finally, production ended with the production of 47 aircraft, and the 2-0-2 model was replaced in the Martin's offer by the 4-0-4 model.
