The Vickers Viscount was a British-made four-engine turbo-prop airliner of the post-war and modern period. The drive was provided - in the 810 version - by four engines Rolls-Royce Dart RDa.7 / 1 Mk 525 with 1990 HP each. The prototype flight took place in 1948, and the first machine was handed over to British European Airways in 1953. About 445 aircraft of this type were built in the course of serial production. In 2009, the machine was withdrawn from use. Vickers Viscount was commissioned by one of the British government committees (the so-called Brabazon Committee) as a new, basic medium and long-range passenger plane, which would be used in the British Empire. After relatively efficient research and development works, a very successful machine was created, with a considerable range exceeding 2,600 kilometers and providing high travel comfort for its passengers. The machine has three development versions in the course of serial production. The first of them, designated as Type 700, was powered by Rolls-Royce engines with 1,381 or 1,550 hp. The next version (Type 800) had a slightly elongated hull, which made it possible to take more passengers on board. Finally, the third variant was the Type 810 with extended range. Vickers Viscount planes were used by airlines from countries such as Ireland, Egypt, Great Britain and Poland (LOT Polish Airlines).
