The Britten-Norman BN2 Islander is a British twin-engine light airliner that was first flown on June 22, 1965. The role of the power unit is played by two Lycoming O-540-E4C5 engines, each with a capacity of 265HP. The aircraft is produced to this day and is one of the best-selling commercial aircraft in its class in Europe. The adaptation of the BN2 for military service took place in May 1970. Under the name Defender, the machine performs reconnaissance, transport and patrol functions. The role of the power unit is played by two Rolls-Royce Allison 250-B17F engines.
