RUMPLER TAUBE 4C

The Rumpler Taube 3F was a German reconnaissance seaplane from the First World War. The machine was designed in the dorsal wing configuration with a fixed float undercarriage. The plane was flown shortly before the outbreak of the Great War, and serial production started in 1914. The drive was provided by a single Mercedes DI engine with 100 HP. The machine was 10.4 meters long with a wingspan of 14.3 meters. The maximum speed was around 100 km / h. The Taube 3F aircraft was developed by Rumpler Flugzeugwerke as an evolutionary development of the Taube 3C aircraft. Both planes belonged to a long series of Rumpler planes called Taube, which in turn was based on the license of the Austrian Erich Taube. The main difference between the Taube 3F and Taube 3C machines concerned the use of a float landing gear in the former and the strengthening of the hull structure. Apart from these two elements, both planes were very similar to each other. Taube 3F planes were used intensively in the first months of the Great War for reconnaissance activities, and later - on a smaller scale - as training machines.
