The Supermarine Channel was a British civilian flying boat from the interwar period. The drive was provided by a single Beardmore engine or Armstrong Siddeley Puma with 160 or 240 hp. The flight of the prototype took place in May 1916, and about 20 machines of this type were created in the course of production. Supermarine Channel planes were created as a result of the reconstruction of military flying boats used during World War I under the name AD Flying Boat. These machines were purchased by Supermarine Aviation plants after 1918 and adapted for civil use. The change consisted mainly in removing the small arms and replacing the engines. During the rebuilding carried out at Supermarine, two versions of this flying boat were created: the first (Mark I) was powered by the Beardmore engine, while the second version (Mark II) already had a much more powerful engine - Armstrong Siddeley Puma. Supermarine Channel was used primarily by civilian audiences in Great Britain, and only a few were delivered to Norway.
